‘PUNK: Chaos to Couture’ — This is the theme of the 2013 spring costume exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum. Of course, with the punk-inspired theme, we’re all bound to know how A-listers, like Beyonce and Anne Hathaway, interpreted the unusual dress code glamour during the exhibition’s opening gala.
Out of over 800 guests at the Met Gala, majority embraced the punk theme with subtle grace; while others seemed to holler with the whole idea. Many of them have caught Vogue Magazine’s attention. In no particular order, here are the fashion magazine’s top picks:
• Rooney Mara in Givenchy Haute Couture

• Sarah Jessica Parker in Giles, Christian Louboutin boots, and Philip Treacy headpiece,

• Blake Lively in Gucci Première dress and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry
• Amanda Seyfried in vintage Givenchy Haute Couture
• Gwen Stefani in Maison Martin Margiela dress
Lou A. Habash’s favorite My personal favorite is Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence, who wore a Christian Dior strapless ball gown to the gala. Her shoes were by Brian Atwood. Her clean yet stunning appeal was easy to fall in love with. Plus that veiled headpiece was a nice touch to the whole ensemble.

The spring exhibit organized by The Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art will be available for public viewing from May 9 to August 14, 2013. It aims to examine the continuing influence of punk on fashion from the 1970s until today.
